Ravinia Festival, one of the nation's leading outdoor classical music festivals, has maintained a relationship with Eyetopia Design since 2002, when Eyetopia was commissioned to create their first "Behind The Music" website. In 2004, Eyetopia Design was given the opportunity to redesign their official website, and we responded by producing an interface that was attractive, flexible, and marketing-driven. In addition, Eyetopia has also created for Ravinia Festival a number of websites devoted to their special program "One Score, One Chicago," as well as other web features designed to both enlighten and entertain.![]()

Improvements to the site interface include:![]()
Logo Placement - The logo was reduced in size and placed in the upper left, in accordance with "best practice" guidelines, but also was featured in other areas of the page, such as the bottom right corner of the page footer. This subtle repetition increases the impression of the logo, and maintains identity when the page is scrolled.![]()
Navigation - The navigation was split into two areas -- a main navigation bar across the top and a secondary navigation bar along the left side. Furthermore, the pages within the site further break out the navigation and incorporate CSS "fly-out" menus, so that you are literally one click away from virtually every page in the site. ![]()
Lead Feature - Marketing of specific events is placed in the forefront with the inclusion of a Lead Feature Flash animation as the most prominent item on the home page. The website is programmed to feature up to 4 Lead Features simultaneously, so that when the page is refreshed, a new Lead Feature for a different concert may be featured (this is seasonal - during off-season there might only be one Lead Feature at any one time). Main Content Area - The main content area was split into two sections, "Highlights" and "Latest News." These areas are customizable by Ravinia personnel, and further work to promote timely events.![]()
"This Week" - This is an optional section that appears on the page only when there are current concerts to promote. In addition to appearing on the home page, this section appears on most other pages of the site, maintaining a timely promotion of current events throughout the website. ![]()
Overall Flexibility - The interface is easily updatable and customizable, so that a new color scheme and/or graphic identity can be placed on the existing site framework from season to season, negating the need to redesign the website with every new season. ![]()

Ravinia Festival - Behind the Music![]()
Eyetopia Design created these seasonal websites to promote and expand the information available on specific Ravinia Seasons. Once again, Eyetopia has provided custom sound production and Flash animation to both enlighten and entertain. While the focus of their promotional efforts has since centered on their One Score, One Chicago offerings, these sites have been archived as an example of what is possible with a relationship with Eyetopia Design.
